The Lake View Garden Bar is a premier Cumbrian venue, nationally recognised as the ‘Best Beer Garden in the UK’. While the core brand identity was established, there was a disconnect between the brand's prestigious reputation and its physical application on-site. We collaborated to bridge this gap, ensuring the physical environment matched the stunning natural beauty of the Lake District and the venue's award-winning status.

Summary

Working in close partnership with the client’s lead designer, we focused on the tactical execution of the brand across the entire site. This involved a complete redesign of the majority of on-site signage and the creation of a bespoke illustration suite. By replacing outdated styles with modern, impactful visual communication, we ensured every physical touchpoint reflected the high quality and cohesive aesthetic expected of a nationally acclaimed hospitality venue.

Challenge

Despite being named the best beer garden in the nation, the venue’s on-site signage had become a patchwork of inconsistent styles that didn’t do justice to the location. The challenge was to implement a design system that could withstand the Cumbrian elements while feeling premium and intentional. We needed to solve functional wayfinding issues and reduce visitor friction, all while injecting a unique personality that felt "special" rather than just functional.

Solutions

We moved away from basic, text-heavy signage and toward a curated, illustrative experience that guides guests effortlessly through the space.

Reinforcing Premium Status: We streamlined all exterior and interior signage, utilising the brand’s typography and colour palette with precision to create a unified, professional image.

Bespoke Illustration Suite: To move beyond standard hospitality graphics, we developed a custom set of illustrations. These add a layer of charm and "exclusive" personality, making the venue feel like a curated destination.

Tactical Wayfinding: We redesigned the directional flow of the site, ensuring that information is clear and beautifully presented, enhancing the visitor journey from the moment they arrive.

Brand Cohesion: By standardising the application of the brand across diverse physical touchpoints, we ensured the Lake View Garden Bar now feels like a single, intentional, and high-end brand experience.
