The Sensory Snug is a family-run inclusive sensory hub in Buckshaw Village, Lancashire, offering two purpose-built sensory rooms, specialist sensory technology, and a creative craft space for children, adults, and families. Born from lived experience and built with deep personal purpose, the goal was to create a brand identity and website that felt as warm, calm, and welcoming as the physical space itself. Every element had to communicate one thing before anything else: you belong here.

Challenge

The wellness and SEND sector is often caught between two extremes: clinical and cold, or overly soft and vague. The Sensory Snug needed to sit in neither. The challenge was to create an identity that felt genuinely human and deeply personal, without losing the quiet confidence of a professional, trusted space. The brand also needed to speak across a wide and varied audience, autistic children and adults, families living with dementia, people with ADHD and SEND, and anyone who simply needs a calmer environment, without ever reducing any individual to a label or a condition. Inclusivity had to be felt, not just stated.

Solutions

The brand is built on a layered metaphor. At its heart is a single penguin, standing curious and present amongst botanical flowers drawn deliberately taller than the penguin itself. The flowers are not decoration. They are the space. They shelter, enclose, and hold. The penguin is not lost in the meadow. It is home.

The penguin was chosen for deeply personal reasons, holding real meaning for founder Nadia and her family. It also works universally: penguins are gentle, endearing, and loved across every age and generation. They move through the world entirely in their own way, without apology. For a space that celebrates every individual's right to do the same, it felt quietly perfect.

The botanical illustrations were drawn to directly echo the hand-painted mural inside the space by interior designer and mural artist Jennifer Quinn. When someone encounters the brand online and then walks through the door, everything connects into one world. The brand and the building speak the same visual language.

The colour palette, Meadow Sage, Blossom Pink, Calm Blue, Garden Green, and Warm Linen, was drawn from nature, soft and grounding without being clinical. The font, Nunito, brings warmth and approachability at every size.

The full project included a comprehensive brand guidelines document, all logo variations, a complete seven-page Wix website with custom copy written entirely in the brand's voice, meta titles and descriptions across all pages, and an accessibility statement, because a space built for people with additional needs deserves a website that takes accessibility just as seriously.
